Most Wired

Martha Jefferson Hospital has been recognized in Hospitals and Health Networks magazine's July 2009 "Most Wired" feature for the significant technological improvements the hospital has made. Martha Jefferson was one of 25 hospitals in the country recognized in this category.

"As always, Martha Jefferson is building on its 'Caring Tradition,' and we are excited to receive recognition for the investments we have made in technology improvements," said Marijo Lecker, Vice President, Administration/IT for Martha Jefferson Hospital. "Even more exciting, however, are the ways in which we have improved our patient, visitor and employee experience with those investments."

Some of Martha Jefferson's recent initiatives leading to this award include the use of wireless bar-coding devices for nurses administering medications, online clinical assessment and documentation tools for clinicians to use during patient care, fully electronic patient records and open wireless Internet access for anyone visiting the hospital.

Hospitals and Health Networks' Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study is a unique program surveying hospitals and health systems on their use of information technology to achieve goals related to patient safety and quality, customer service and workforce management.
