OBESITY & YOUR HEALTH

As of 2006, it is estimated that 20-24% of adults living in Virginia are obese, meaning that they have a Body-Mass Index (BMI) equal to or greater than 30. In general, this is the same as a person who is 20% or more above their ideal body weight. When a person's BMI reaches 40 or more, they are considered clinically (or morbidly) obese meaning that the health risks associated with their weight are life-threatening. Someone who has a BMI of 35 and is experiencing serious health issues related to their obesity also is considered clinically obese.

If you are dealing with a serious weight problem, you are not alone and there is a way to find your way back to good health.
