Michael Trahan

Michael Trahan, MD

Dr. Michael Trahan began directing the Martha Jefferson Bariatric Care Center in 2007, after six years as a surgeon and assistant professor of surgery at the Center for Weight Management, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, and his Medical Degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He is specialty trained in bariatric surgery, having completed the Fundamentals of Bariatric Surgery training course and the Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Mini-Fellowship Program. Dr. Trahan has also completed Lap-Band and REALIZE Band training workshops, where he gained specialized training in the placement and adjustment of gastric bands. Dr. Trahan is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Virginia Bariatric Society, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Katherine Trahan

Katherine M. Trahan, M.D.

Dr. Katherine Trahan joined the Martha Jefferson Bariatric Care Center in 2007, after four years as an assistant professor in the Department of General Surgery and Assistant Director of Trauma at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX. She completed her undergraduate degree at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, and her Medical Doctor degree at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA. She completed her residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Trahan is specialty trained in trauma surgery and bariatric surgery and has completed Lap-Band and REALIZE Band training workshops, where she gained specialized training in the placement and adjustment of gastric bands. Dr. Trahan is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also a member of the Virginia Bariatric Society, American Medical Women's Association, and Association of Women Surgeons.
